We walk in through the glass doors
and take our seats at the familiar booth.
The leather pressed down and warm
from whoever enjoyed their time here last.
I wonder if they too think about death often.
If they are scared that each moment may be the last.
A sign next to our booth reads:
Too much of a good thing is wonderful!
I think that way about our time together
how I wish I could spend each moment
for infinity but I am unable to stop the clock
from ticking as our water glasses become empty.
When you finally lay out cash and we leave
I turn to look one last time and hope
we will come back soon.
