“What Did the Long Night of Winter Teach Us?”

The strengthening sun is quickening the great thaw of winter. As days begin to grow longer the upcoming spring shows itself in greening grass and blossoming budding trees. As the Earth pushes through the melting snow with the Spring Equinox, we ask ourselves “what did the long night of winter teach us?” To answer here are three haikus.

Sunless days and darkest nights
How my skin craves
The warm touch of sunlight

Snow brings moisture
that not only nourishes
But encourages
New growth

Snuggles for warmth
Hugs for heat
Keep your family close
And cold you’ll never be
