Wilderness is a powerful and recurring theme in sacred texts across the Earth as a place to have liberating and transformative encounters with God and the Divine. By standing in contrast to controlled and human-dominated landscapes, Wilderness provides spiritual aspirants a decentering space to get back in touch with the gifted, radical, and freeing love that makes up reality. In wild spaces, we brush up against something much bigger and much more powerful than we are.
